Born in 1965 in Timișoara. He studied at the High School of Fine Arts in Timișoara, the Institute of Visual Arts in Cluj, then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He obtained his diploma in 1993 at the Faculty of Graphic Arts, in the studio of Prof. Stanislaw Wejman. He is fluent in Romanian, English and French, he also knows German and Italian at a conversational level. He deals with graphics, drawing and performative lectures. His works are featured in many collections (MoMA NY, São Paolo National Museum, Washington National Gallery, Gallery of Figures of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, Albertina in Vienna and many more.) In 2001 he represented Romania at the Venice Biennale with his Context project. He taught in the USA, among others at the University of Arizona (Art as a social practice, 2001–2002) and at the University of Virginia (Digital art and Drawing, 2000, 2002–2004). He teaches drawing at the Faculty of Intermedia of the Academy of Fine Arts. Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation in 2016-2020. Married, with 3 children. An avid mountain hiker, anti-smog activist, who successfully sued the City of Zakopane for a climate tax.
