MAGDALENA UJMA

Art historian and critic, curator of exhibitions and contemporary art projects. She graduated in art history and culture management. She ran the NN Gallery in Lublin, worked in the editorial office of Kresy Literary Quarterly, and then in the Museum of Art in Łódź and Bunker of Art Gallery in Krakow. As of now, she takes care of the collection at the Cricoteka Tadeusz Kantor Museum. She curated and co-curated numerous exhibitions, including Things and People at the BWA Gallery in Tarnów (with Agnieszka Bartak-Lisikiewicz), as well as the exhibition of Ewa Bloom Kwiatkowska Auto da fé at the Wozownia Gallery in Toruń (2020). In 2011, she published Sztuki wizualne. Skandale. Her interests include: Polish art and visual culture of the 20th and 21st centuries, their role in co-creation, maintenance and metamorphosis of Polish identity myths, women’s art, institutional criticism, as well as the language of art commentary, and the intersection of the visual with the textual.
